Inca King Wins at Churchill Downs

Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Inca King assumed command leaving the backstretch and went on to win Sunday’s $44,440 feature race by 3 ½ lengths at Churchill Downs.

In winning for the fifth time in five starts in 2010, Inca King covered the 1 1/16 miles on a firm Matt Winn Turf Course in 1:42.81. A 6-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Sir Cat, Inca King has a career record of 32-15-4-1 and has won six of nine starts over the Matt Winn Turf Course.

Trained by Mike Maker and ridden by Robby Albarado, Inca King surged past the pace-setting Strike Impact entering the far turn and never was threatened by his six challengers. The victory was worth $26,400 and increased Inca King’s earnings to $730,401.

Inca King returned $4, $3.20 and $2.10. Strike Impact, ridden by Francisco Torres, held on for second by a neck and returned $5.40 and $3.20 with No Inflation finishing third under Miguel Mena and paying $2.60 to show.
