Immortal Verse Has Date With Frankel

FLYING French filly Immortal Verse could clash with the unbeaten Frankel in the Qipco-sponsored Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on British Champions Day after connections confirmed her for the Group 1 on October 15.

Immortal Verse featured among a list of 14 acceptors for the race on Wednesday and is on course to bid for a third successive Group 1, following top-level victories in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville.

The Robert Collet-trained three-year-old is owned by Richard Strauss and his Kilfrush Stud manager, Brendan Hayes said: “Immortal Verse is very well and we are targeting the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes with her. We are optimistic and it looks like it is going to be a great race.

“Hopefully, she can show her usual turn of foot, although it is certainly going to be an interesting race in terms of tactics. A good pace would suit us.
