How to play Gulfstream $727,305 Pick 6 mandatory payout
Following an unforgettable Pegasus World Cup day, the Rainbow 6 jackpot has grown to $727,305 and must go Sunday. A sequence filled with opportunities to find some value and a pool expected to reach over $3 million adds to an already exciting weekend for bettors.
Race 6 - A maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on turf kicks off the mandatory payout day. Five first time starters make up this full field and No. 9 Public Service (7-2) is most interesting. She will undoubtedly take money based on the connections of Klaravich Stables, Chad Brown, and Irad Ortiz, Jr. There is reason for this as Brown fires with 19 percent of his first-time starters and together with Ortiz, they win at 24 percent. Public Service is out of a winning dam on turf and by Hard Spun who is a 13-percent turf route sire. From those that have run, No. 7 Beside Herself (3-1) gets blinkers on, a move that is effective 23 percent of the time for Todd Pletcher. For a little more coverage, No. 5 Empress At War (15-1) and No. 11 Queen Macha (8-1) make sense, as Empress At War is making her second start after a little traffic trouble first time out and Queen Macha returns to the turf after three dirt attempts.

Race 7 - The Horse Racing Nation Pace report identifies this seven-furlong starter optional claimer for fillies and mares 4-and-up as lacking much pace. This won’t be beneficial for No. 4 Don’t Get Khozy (9-5) who does not show early speed. Two horses that will sit close, if not on the lead, in this paceless race are No. 2 Simplify (20-1) and No. 3 Dem a Wonder (6-1). Dem a Wonder comes off a win last time out and was second before that after breaking slowly. Although Simplify might seem like he is just not fast enough on paper, he will not have to deal with the same kind of pace here and gets a jockey change to Javier Castellano who is firing at 16 percent.
Picks: 2, 3
Race 8 - Another maiden special weight at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, this time for the 3-year-old colts, also features some intriguing first time starters. No. 1 Bandimere (7-2) goes out for Ortiz and Brown, this time for WinStar Farm and Twin Creeks Racing. The dam Share the Music was a turf winner and the sibling Hot Ticket has already won his first start. No. 8 Celestial Glaze (4-1) has turf pedigree on the dam side as well and goes out for Pletcher who wins with 17 percent of his first time starters. From those with experience, No. 2 Curbstone (9-2) has early speed which is always dangerous.
Picks: 1, 8, 2
Race 9 - In this starter allowance for 4-year-olds and up at 5 1/2 furlongs on the Tapeta, I am looking for some prices to beat the favorite, No. 3 Cuy (5-2). Bumped at the break last time out and getting a jockey change to Castellano (the third-best synthetic rider according to HRN’s Hot Jockey report in terms of positive impact, he is winning 24-percent on synthetic with a positive impact score of 60 percent), No. 7 Tropicat offers more value at 8-1 on the morning line. No. 9 Self Taught (4-1) won last time out and will now try the Tapeta with Paco Lopez aboard (+10 percent impact).
Picks: 7, 9
Race 10 - This allowance optional claiming race for 4-year-olds and up at one mile on the turf seems fairly wide open. No. 5 Mid Day Image (3-1) returns to the turf where he won two back after a synthetic effort against Yamato who came back to win on Pegasus Day. No. 8 Skyro (6-1) comes in off a layoff since July 15, where he was third at this distance and surface and picks up Ortiz. No. 11 Risk Manager (5-1) is off a slightly shorter layoff from Oct. 21 and has a two-race win streak that he will be attempting to uphold. These three also make up the top three in the Horse Racing Nation Power Picks.
Picks: 5, 8, 11

Race 11 - The sequence concludes with this $10,000 claiming event for 4-year-olds and up going a mile and 70 yards on the Tapeta. Three horses will be on the ticket: No. 4 Devoted Kitten (4-1), No. 7 Benefactor (10-1), and No. 10 Farley (10-1). Devoted Kitten drops from a $20,000 claiming level and has experience on the synthetic surface. Benefactor has a win two races back at this level, distance, and surface. Farley does have early speed and gets a jockey change to Castellano, who is riding well on the Tapeta.
