A WIRE-TO-WIRE JOB IN
HORSEPLAYER WORLD SERIES
Robert Gregory had
somehow managed to have the best score of each of the 681 contestants on each
of the first two days of the HorsePlayer World Series (HPWS) and held a solid
lead going Saturday's final day. And as it turned out, he didn't even have
to show up as none of his rivals could catch Gregory's score entering
yesterday's play.
And when the scores
were posted at 1:30 in the afternoon West Coast time, the amazing 3348 posted
by Gregory after Thursday and Friday's play was still the leading score.
So, perhaps, Gregory saved most of his bullets for late in the day but he
managed to chip-up with essentially a break-even day to 3926 and in the end was
a comfortable winner by over 600, which not only represents the amount of each
day's starting 'bankroll', it is the amount one receives when hitting a limit
horse. To win by more than 600 is a blowout victory in the end.
Along with Robert
Gregory taking the lead after Day 1 and never looking back, Bob Montgomery was
in the 2nd spot after Thursday's action and that is where he ended up.
Bob Rubin was another in the Top Ten following each of the three days of the
contest and Rubin finished 3rd. Here is the Top Ten:
1. Robert Gregory
- 3926 ($306,450)
2. Bob Montgomery -
3255 ($68,100)
3. Bob Rubin - 3206
($47,670)
4. James Lei - 3151
($34,050)
5. Ed Chambers - 3127
($20,430)
6. Bill Moore - 3091
7. Jim O'Nail - 3068
8. Craig Kaufman -
3067
9. Wayne Misko - 3016
10. Sean Wilson - 2993
Congrats to Derby Wars
regular jimonail on his 7th-place finish though I'm sure he is frustrated about
not getting a couple hundred more points and finding his way into the runner-up
slot.
I will have a
fill-blown re-cap in a day or two as it has been a long, long weekend thus far.
