Horak: My top 5 Gulfstream Park picks for Easter Sunday

Gulfstream Park is the only game in town on Easter Sunday, and it offers a nice 12-race card. Here's who I'll be betting with all post times Eastern, and you can run down Sunday's Gulfstream Park entries here..

Race 4: Maiden Special Weight (1:27 p.m.)

Saratoga Affair is a lofty sales purchase for this Chad Brown debuter. The average cost of a Paynter foal is $66,000, yet connections went to $450,000 for this filly, and I like her March work pattern (two bullets and two gate moves). Her 4-1 morning line price might not hold up.

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight (2:25 p.m.)

Prairie Wings got up to finish second from the inside post in her local dirt sprint bow on Feb. 9, and the winner of that heat returned to score again. Todd Pletcher has her now following Kiaran McLaughlin’s career change from trainer to jockey agent. Luis Saez sticks with the $800,000 daughter of Tapit, and it should be noted that McLaughlin is his current agent.

Race 9: Allowance Optional Claiming (3:59 p.m.)

She’s All Woman hit the board in her last four starts. My main concern is her lack of a winning spirit with a 2-for-18 career record. Saez is 2-for-3 with trainer Bob Hess Jr. recently, and she projects a nice outside stalking trip in a race with plenty of pace.

Race 11: Allowance Optional Claiming (5:01 p.m.)

Guacamole cuts back a couple of furlongs after showing speed from the rail and finishing third at one mile on March 5. She was my daily Best Bet win pick that day. Todd Pletcher’s 4-year-old filly tracked the pace and won at this distance last year.

Race 12: Claiming $20,000 (5:32 p.m.)

Keepsakekitten finished first or second in his last four starts for Saffie Joseph Jr., with three of those wins. He was nabbed out of his last for $16,000 by Jose Gallegos. Tyler Gaffalione hops aboard the patient colt, and he guided this one to a rallying runner-up finish after a troubled start on Jan. 4. He should get pace to chase.
