Race 1: Lyndhurst Handicap

No. 10 Faithful Trinity slots in light and has claims. Expect he rolls forward in a bid to offset the wide draw and takes a bit of running down. No.3 Our Creed finally got off the mark last start. Luke Ferraris retains the ride and he should be thereabouts once more. No. 5 Glorious Lover is racing well in this grade. Karis Teetan’s booking holds him in good stead. No. 7 Jolly Honour is competitive. He finds a suitable contest here and the booking of Silvestre de Sousa bodes well here.

Race 2: Old Bailey Handicap (2nd section)

No. 11 Happy Trio just needs to offset the wide ally. He brings the right vein of form to this contest and the retention of Karis Teetan’s services are a bonus. No. 3 Harmony N Home has the right draw. He can save ground and take his chance at this group. No. 2 Righteous Arion has found form and was an impressive winner three starts ago. He appears to have a number of rating points still in hand. No. 1 Compassion Super has the class-edge and does pair favorably with Hugh Bowman. He does have a wide draw and hefty impost to offset though.

Race 3: Elgin Handicap

No. 12 Ace Talent has been knocking on the door for a while. He slots in light, draws well and does get a favorable set of hands aboard in the form of Silvestre de Sousa. He’s ready to win. No. 10 Glory Bo Bo is in sound form and the right condition. He’s continued to improve with racing and has shown that a win is very, very close. No. 4 Sergeant Pepper loves the course and distance. He rarely runs a bad race and should get every chance here under Hugh Bowman. No. 7 King Invincible steps out on debut. He appears to have his fair share of ability.

Race 4: Staunton Handicap

No. 10 Happy Angel is closing in on a first win. He has the right draw and looks set to peak here with Alexis Badel hopping up. No. 5 Right As Rain should already be a winner. Expect he settles at the tail of the field before powering home strongly. No. 1 Flying Silver is a three-time winner. He’s in superb form and just needs to overcome the hefty impost. No. 2 Lucky Diamond should find the front and take a bit of catching. Expect he crosses quick from out wide in a bid to overcome the awkward draw.

Race 5: Old Bailey Handicap (1st section)

No. 1 Flying On The Turf is chasing a fourth consecutive win. He’s in superb form and gets another chance here in Class 4. He can win again, especially from the inside gate under Zac Purton. No. 3 Wind Speeder tends to mix his form but has hit his straps of late. He should get every chance here to win again. No. 6 Timestorm has claims and may get a few favors here. He’s very, very close to a first win. No. 4 Regency Star is favored from gate one. Matthew Poon hops up for the in-form Danny Shum.
Race 6: Chancery Handicap
No. 1 Packing Succeeder is chasing back-to-back wins. He would be a crucial win for trainer Peter Ho and it’s ideal that he remains in Class 4 following his latest effort. Zac Purton should ensure he gets every possible chance. No. 2 Viva Popcorn is a consistent customer and shouldn’t underestimated. No. 7 Sixth Generation is rarely away from the mark. There should be no excuses here from the draw. No. 12 Cordyceps One slots in light. Like the booking of Karis Teetan here on a horse proven in this grade.
Race 7: The Police Cup Handicap

No. 4 Majestic Knight has the class and should arguably be more than a one-time winner in Hong Kong. He’s in superb form at present and Zac Purton’s booking holds him in good stead. Hard to beat. No. 5 Gorgeous Vitality rarely runs a bad race. He knows how to be competitive and should be once more. No. 8 Ice Legend is chasing back-to-back wins, albeit after a decent break. He’s got a touch of class. No. 11 Hero Star slots in light and chances are he finds the front to lead this group.

Race 8: Arbuthnot Handicap
No. 6 Everyone’s Delight was an impressive winner on the dirt last time out. Suspect he’s better on the turf and he gets every chance here from gate two. No. 1 Savvy Nine may need a bit of rain to enhance his chances but he does have a significant class-edge over rivals here. No. 8 Gorytus won with plenty up his sleeve last start. He’s an impressive talent who returned impressively last start with that win. No. 9 Nearly Fine loves the Valley. He’s worth respecting here, even against a difficult group.
Race 9: Hollywood Handicap
No. 2 Equaletta Blitz is in the right vein of form and with this can easily come another win. Zac Purton hops again on another key chance for Douglas Whyte at this week’s Happy Valley fixture. No. 1 Eason mixes his form but he can return to form in this grade, especially from draw one. No. 4 Here Comes Ted was a tidy winner two starts ago. He shouldn’t be too far away. No. 11 Act Of Faith is favored under 117lb from the draw. He looks to have a number of rating points in hand and Karis Teetan should ensure he gets his chance.
Declan Schuster grew up loving the sport and doing the form after Pierro won the 2012 Golden Slipper. His love for racing in Asia and the puzzle of finding winners took him to Hong Kong, where he is employed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. His favorite racecourse is Happy Valley. Coverage of the entire Hong Kong Thoroughbred season at Horse Racing Nation is made possible through a sponsorship by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
