Race 1: Chai Wan Road Handicap
No. 8 Skyey Supreme should find the front as he often does. Expect he runs them along here and under no weight, he could easily prove tricky to get past. Take a chance on him making all. No. 5 Perfect Team caught the eye with a luckless effort on dirt last time. He’s racing well and appears to be coming to hand swiftly. No. 1 Erimo has the runs and form on the board, especially on dirt. He should receive a sweet run throughout from the positive draw. No. 2 Tianchi Monster has claims. He’s worth including with Zac Purton up.
Race 2: Ho Sheung Heung Road Handicap
No. 3 Talents Supremo has taken a bit of time to acclimatize. He’s mixed his form so far, however, he has shown his capabilities in glimpses and is worth taking a chance on here. The return to this course and distance is a big plus, just like his inclusion in this grade. No. 1 Amazing Rocky gets a handy 10 pounds taken off via the apprentice. He’ll lead and give them something to catch. No. 9 Strathpeffer can improve after turning his form around last time out. No. 5 Beauty Destiny lacks experience but does have the class. Keep safe.
Race 3: Tuen Mun Public Riding School Handicap
No. 5 Dream Winner smashed his rivals last start by over five lengths on debut. Expecting he can do the same again here, even up in grade, with Vincent Ho retaining the ride. No. 8 Red Elegance has the ability and can improve out of his latest effort. He gets a handy pull in weight with 117 pounds assigned. No. 6 Super Axiom has speed and plenty of it. He’ll find the front and get every opportunity from there. No. 2 Pleasant Endeavor does his best racing over the course and distance. He’s here to be competitive again.
Race 4: Pok Fu Lam Public Riding School Handicap
No. 2 Turtle Again steps down in grade. He should relish this dip and the inside gate should afford him every chance to get off the mark. He’s the one to beat, looks well in his trackwork and does pair favorably with Derek Leung. No. 1 Winwin Thirtythree can win in this grade and knows exactly how to do so. He gets 10 pounds taken off with the apprentice engaged. No. 9 Apex Top should cross the field to offset the wide gate. He’ll take some reeling in. No. 6 Master Of Luck gets an ideal draw and is open to improvement.
Race 5: Lei Yue Mun Public Riding School Handicap
Pace could be on here, which would suit no. 12 Perfect Rock. He makes the switch to the dirt, which should prove to be a very good move. He slots in light and his latest barrier trial on the dirt was impressive, much like his trackwork. Worth taking a chance. No. 1 Amazing Teens should get the run of the race from the draw. He’ll be stating his case late. No. 2 Righteous Doctrine draws ideally and knows how to win in this grade and over the course and distance. No. 9 Lucky Victor can lead and get his chance from an ideal draw.
Race 6: The Hong Kong Riding For The Disabled Association Cup Handicap
No. 11 Lady’s Choice has a bit of class and is well placed to break through this weekend. He’s racing well, holding his condition and any rain around – which is forecast – will not be a hindrance. No. 5 Marvel Dragon has the right draw and is the likely leader here. He can take catching at times but chances are he needs a firm surface. No. 3 Horsesain Bolt is yet to win in Hong Kong. He draws well and Karis Teetan’s booking should see him go close. No. 2 E Brother is next in line.
Race 7: Lei Yue Mun Park Handicap
No. 12 Casa Legend is in the right vein of form to be winning this one. He’s deserving of a first win and he looks well placed to be getting it here, especially with no weight on his back in the form of Matthew Poon. No. 3 Kasi Farasi mixes his form but on his day should be winning here. He’s holding his condition after placing in two of his last three starts. No. 6 Dinosaur Boy can improve again. He did well on a challenging surface last time to finish midfield. No. 5 All Is Good can figure once more.
Race 8: Lung Mun Road Handicap
No. 2 Beauty Fit has been running well this season and since dipping to Class 3 has shown improvement. He’s met some challenging surfaces of late, however, he’s still proven to be super competitive. He has a bit of class and his best form is good enough to win here. No. 5 Jumbo Fortune retains Zac Purton. He caught the eye closing off at Happy Valley last time out. No. 8 Secret Vision is rarely too far away. Strong booking of Vincent Ho catches the eye and gate one is a bonus. No. 9 Cheery just needs to offset the wide draw.
Race 9: Pok Fu Lam Country Park Handicap
No. 10 Ready To Win doesn’t win out of turn. Still, he draws an ideal barrier this week and this contest doesn’t appear to have a stand out performer. He should get a sweet run and have the last crack at this group. No. 6 Excellent Fighter is a superb talent who continues to improve with each run. Expect he can do so again, except the challenge will be to overcome the wide gate. No. 7 Lucky Encounter faces similar circumstances. He’s talented and commands respect. No. 3 Invincible Sage has claims. Keep safe.
Race 10: Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road Handicap
No. 1 Tuchel has an enormous amount of ability and he gets the right draw here to showcase it once more. He’s the clear top-rater and his best form should see him prove too good for this group. No. 12 The Best Peach slots in light and is riding atop a wave of very, very good form. No. 5 Turin Redsun is much better than his recent form suggests. The inside gate should see him get the opportunity to bounce back to his best. No. 4 Rise Brethren does his best racing over this trip. Next in line.
Declan Schuster grew up loving the sport and doing the form after Pierro won the 2012 Golden Slipper. His love for racing in Asia and the puzzle of finding winners took him to Hong Kong, where he is employed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. His favorite racecourse is Happy Valley.
