Hollywood Park: Futurity, Starlet Noms Rise

The first round of nominations for both the CashCall Futurity and the Hollywood Starlet are up over last year, according to Martin Panza, Hollywood Park’s racing secretary and vice president-racing.
Early nominations for the Futurity, a Grade I for 2-year-olds which has a guaranteed purse of $750,000, total 250, compared to 225 at the same time in 2010.
There are 198 early nominations for the Starlet, a Grade I for 2-year-old fillies with an estimated purse of $500,000, compared to 163 a year ago.
Sustaining payments are due Friday, July 8. The 2011 Hollywood Starlet is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10 while the 2011 CashCall Futurity will be run Saturday, Dec. 17. Both races are at 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track.
