Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s Hisse proved prophetically best by 4 3/4-lengths when winning Sunday’ $60,000 Red Camelia Stakes on closing day of Fair Grounds 2009-2010 Thoroughbred racing season presented by Miller Lite.

Conditioned by Eclipse Award-winning trainer Steve Asmussen, who won his ninth local training title at Fair Grounds, Hisse was ridden by jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, who won his first Fair Grounds riding championship after previously winning leading jockey titles at Arlington, Aqueduct and Churchill Downs in previous seasons.

Owners Bill and Corrine Heiligbrodt captured their second straight leading owner title at Fair Grounds on Sunday’s last day of the meeting.

“Hisse ran a great race on the grass today,” said Bridgmohan.  “Everything came together for me at the end of the season.  I was able to expand my business near the end of the season, but Steve (Asmussen) has backed me all along and I really appreciate the way he has stuck with me all along.”

Bridgemohan kept Hisse far back in the early going of Sunday’s Red Camelia, restricted to accredited Louisiana-bred fillies and run at about 1 1/16-miles over the Stall-Wilson turf course. The daughter of Buddha circled foes around the second turn while moving up, surged clear a furlong out and proved much the best.

Hisse returned mutuels of $4.20, $2.60 and $2.10, accomplished the distance in 1:43.72 and increased her earnings to $332,071 with her fifth victory in 21 lifetime starts.

Daniel Family Farms’ Skipping Town rallied to be clearly second best, finishing two lengths in front of Dogwood Knoll Farm’s Token Diva.  Skipping Town paid $5.80 and $3.20, while Token Diva returned $7.60 in the show position.

Michael Almerico II’s Royal Madame made the pace with splits of 23.27 and 48.53 before tiring to ninth.
