Jockey Heidi Rose scored her first victory when the Ida Spagnola-owned and –trained Silver Prince won the opening race by a nose Thursday at Arlington International Racecourse.
However, after the race the horse and rider parted ways when the son of Nobiz Like Showbiz tossed his jockey and ran off the track at the mile gap. Neither horse nor jockey were injured and Rose made her way to the winner’s circle sans her equine partner.
It was just the 10th ride for the 27-year-old native of Holland, Michigan who has been a hotwalker, groom, exercise rider, assistant trainer, pony person and worked the sales before launching her riding career earlier this month.
