Video: British racing reporter stops loose horse, breaks Twitter

It turns out the sister of top jockey Ryan Moore, who we last saw in the United States riding Mendelssohn in the Kentucky Derby, possesses plenty of horsemanship, too.

On Tuesday, At The Races presenter Hayley Moore corralled loose horse Give Em A Clump at Wales' Chepstow Racecourse with an act of bravery that's earned her plenty of praise.

How the incident happened made the video fascinating. The horse literally comes right at Moore as she waits on the course, and she shows no fear by staying in front of the animal and going for the reigns.

The incident left Moore on the ground, but she had a tight hold on Give Em A Clump by then, and the horse finally settled down.

After she got up, one of her fellow commenters quipped, “She might have broken her earpiece … that’s going to be incredibly expensive.”

Moore is also a sibling of riders Jamie and Josh Moore, and the daughter of trainer Gary Moore. Therefore, she is steeped in racing knowledge and likely knew what she was doing.

Still, it was fun to watch.

Give Em A Clump is a 3-year-old trained by David Evans. He had a problem with his blinkers, which caused him to panic and lose his rider.

Chepstow clerk of the course Keith Ottesan offered kind words for Moore in an interview with Racing Post, saying, “Hayley was extremely brave out there as the horse was not for stopping but her experience with horses has obviously helped. I think she probably deserves some sort of bravery medal as she has stepped in where others may have not.”

At The Races also had some fun with the situation, suggesting Moore could play a stopping role in another of the United Kingdom's favorite sports.

Moore spoke about the incident in an interview later on At The Race..

“You’ve sent the Twitter machine completely mad," a host says. "That was … I’ve never seen anything like that.”

She replied, “I just couldn’t bear to see it go out on another lap.”

Moore continued on with her presenting duties and, according to Racing Post, the horse turned out OK.

Hopefully, she will not need to perform heroic duties such as this on a daily basis. But, at least she is fearless and ready.
