Havre De Grace, Blind Luck Resume Rivalry

Arch rivals Blind Luck and Havre De Grace meet for the sixth time in Saturday's Grade 2 Delaware Handicap.

Havre De Grace carries top weight of 124 pounds and rightfully so after a trio of facile wins to begin her 4-year-old season, including an easy tally against nemesis Blind Luck in the G3 Azeri at Oaklawn Park in March. She holds a tactical advantage over her main rival and is an obvious low odds threat.

Blind Luck is a gem of consistency with eighteen exacta finishes from twenty career starts. She snapped a five-race losing streak in the G2 La Troienne at Churchill Downs on May 6 and followed that up with another win in Hollywood's G1 Vanity on June 18. She is back on top of her game and should be finishing fast under Garrett Gomez.

Defending champion Life At Ten had tremendous success in 2010 with four graded wins but the wheels came off the cart in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic and she has not been the same since. Her last quality speed rating was earned in last year's G1 Beldame and she is hard to recommend in her current form.

Thundering Emilia can grab a piece of this for trainer Michael Matz. The Thunder Gulch mare completed the exacta in her much needed local US bow (off the turf) on June 18 and she flashed ability at today's ten furlong distance in Peru.

Late running Love's Blush rounds out the field. She has the productive Dunkelberger-Jenkins team in her corner but is off her game currently. Her last win occurred in a local optional claiming route on June 14, 2010.

The $750,000 Delaware Handicap goes as the 10th race on July 16th with a scheduled post time of 5:18 p.m. ET.
