Harlan's Ruby to go in Juvenile Fillies next

Harlan’s Ruby and Jordy Y, second- and third-place finishers, respectively, in Friday’s Darley Alcibiades (G1), were doing well at their barns Saturday morning.

“She came out fine,” said Ken McPeek, trainer of Harlan’s Ruby. “She ran a really respectable race. The pace was a little bit slow for her but you can’t control it. She ran good, and we’ll probably run her back in the (Grade 1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup) Juvenile Fillies.”

Trainer Wayne Catalano had both Jordy Y and Super Robusto run in the Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In races Friday. Super Robusto finished eighth in the Phoenix Stakes (G3).

“They look to be in good shape,” Catalano said.

As for the upcoming weeks, plans differ between the trainers.

McPeek said Harlan’s Ruby will “probably train (at Keeneland) right up to the (Breeders’ Cup). Might get a work over the Churchill track — just depends on the timing.”

Plans have not yet been made for Jordy Y or Super Robusto.

“We’ll just see how they recuperate in the next couple days and me and Mr. (owner Darrell) Yates will sit down and talk about them,” Catalano said.
