HRN Power Rankings Feature International Stars This Week
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
This week's Top 10 has an international flair, with 3 foreign stars getting your votes.
Goldikova, the French-based miler, retains the top spot. In 4th is Black Caviar, the Australian champion
sprinter who is undefeated in 13 starts. Black Caviar is a five-year-old mare who smokes the males in distances up to 1200 meters (about 6 furlongs). Check out the great profile of Black Caviar in this week's Distaff Runner. Moving way up to the #7 spot this week is So You Think, a horse who started his career in Australia but is now wowing them in Europe. So You Think won the Tattersalls Gold Cup in his last start.
As for the Americans, there has been a shakeup since last week to allow the international stars their spots. Blind Luck got bumped to 5th by Black Caviar, but she may be able to regain her ranking with a win in the Vanity on June 18. Switch holds her spot in 6th but should she defeat Blind Luck in the Vanity look to see her move up. Big Drama also retains his spot in 8th. No word on when the American champion sprinter will make his next appearance. Morning Line continues to hold in 9th despite skipping the Met Mile. His performance in the Carter in April must still be impressing voters. Look for Morning Line to reappear in the Whitney at Saratoga.
Gio Ponti dropped from 5th to 10th this week, reflecting the turf star's inaction since March. We hope he returns a winner in this weekend's Manhattan, a race he won in 2009 and was 2nd in 2010.
This week's Power Rankings report couldn't go by without mentioning the HRN Top 250 Fillies & Mares of All Time Rankings!
Voting doesn't end until July 4th, so these rankings will change. Who knows, perhaps Personal Ensign, undefeated in 13 career starts, including the dramatic '88 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic, will move from her current 12th spot, or Meafara, 2nd in two Breeders' Cup Sprints, could find the votes to move out of the 242nd spot.
Don't forget to rate your favorites every day, and tune in here next week for the latest HRN Power Rankings Report!
