The life-changing Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot swelled to $4,181,510.53 Wednesday at Gulfstream Park, when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 50th program in a row.
A total of $742,680 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 pool Wednesday. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $908.04.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Thursday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11. First race post time is set for 12:35 p.m.
The Rainbow 6 was last solved Jan. 13, when one lucky bettor hit for $76,799.38. The largest payout of the current Championship Meet, which opened Dec. 5, was $262,634.84 on Jan. 7.
The Rainbow 6 produced a record payoff of $6,678,939 for a Palm Beach bettor on May 25, 2014, breaking the previous mark of $3,591,245.44 set by a New Jersey bettor on Feb. 22, 2013.
If the Rainbow 6 continues to go unsolved, there will be a mandatory payout on March 26.
Who’s Hot: Jockey Julien Leparoux picked up a riding triple Wednesday, winning the eighth race with Thatcher Street ($3) and sweeping the late daily double with Auntie Joy ($11.80) in the 10th and Bladerunner ($27) in the 11th. Auntie Joy and Blade Runner are both trained by Brendan Walsh.
