Gulfstream: Rainbow 6 could reach $15 million for mandatory payout

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot pool, which has the potential to build to $15 million or more, is set for Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager with life-changing possibilities went unsolved Saturday for the 41st consecutive racing day of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet, leaving a carryover jackpot of $3,612,593.91 heading into Sunday’s program.

Multiple tickets with all six winners on Saturday’s Pegasus World Cup Day program were each worth $394,349,12.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

However, on mandatory payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to those holding tickets with the most winners.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, kicking off with a mile optional claiming allowance on turf in Race 6. A 6 ½-furlong $25,000 claiming race in Race 7 will be followed by a 1 1/16-mile starter optional claiming allowance on turf in Race 8 and a mile race for $8,000 claiming race in Race 9. The sequence will conclude with a 7 ½-furlong optional claiming allowance on turf in Race 10 and a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race on turf in Race 11.
