Gulfstream Park's Two-Year-Old Racing Season Begins
The highly anticipated start of the 2-year-old racing season at Gulfstream Park is slated for Thursday’s fourth race.
Trainer Wesley Ward, whose program is geared toward early success with juveniles, entered Animal Quiet, a son of Iqbaal that he bred and owns. The Florida-bred gelding drew the outside post position in the field of eight entered Saturday in the 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight event. Animal Quiet, scheduled to be ridden by apprentice Carlos Hernandez, has had two official breezes at Gulfstream Park.

Both colts have a series of four works at Payson Park. Tyler Gaffalione was named to ride Da Meister, while Nik Juarez is slated to ride I Shod the Sheriff.
