Gulfstream Park sets next mandatory Rainbow 6 payout

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is set for Saturday’s 12-race program at Gulfstream Park.

Should the popular multi-race wager remain unsolved through Friday’s program, the pool could grow to an estimated $6 million.

Heading into Thursday’s program, the popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for eight consecutive racing days. There was a carryover jackpot pool of more than $1 million prior to wagering.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12 and include 2019 Preakness Stakes winner War of Will’s return to turf in the $75,000 Sunshine Forever in Race 9.

War of Will, a multiple graded stake winner on dirt, hasn’t raced on turf since his 2-year-old season, during which the Mark Casse-trained 4-year-old placed second in the Summer Stakes (G1) at Woodbine.
