Mark Guidry, who became a trainer after a 33-year riding career with more than 5,000 victories, is back at Churchill Downs, where he began working Tuesday for trainer Dale Romans.
“Training was good,” he said. “I just ran out of horses, ran out of clientele. So you got to do what you got to do.”
Based in his native Louisiana, Guidry won 30 of 300 starts in a training career that began in 2008. He retired as a jockey Nov. 10, 2007, and turned to training after attending the stewards' school at the University of Louisville.
