Thoroughbred Legends Racing Stable’s Grove Park, away alertly and quickly in command, drew off in the run down the backstretch and held sway in the lane to win Thursday’s grassy $27,000 feature at Fair Grounds for claimers scaled from $25,000-$20,000 by a length and a quarter.

Ridden by Miguel Mena and trained by Ronny Werner, Grove Park returned mutuels of $7, $3.80 and $3 as the choice of the fans, toured the about 1 1/16-mile test over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated “good” in 1:45.50 following early splits of 24.53 and 48.94 and increased his career earnings to $63,146 with his second victory in 13 lifetime starts.

Winchester Place Thoroughbreds and Gary Scherer’s Nolangrant’skitten finished second, paying $5.20 and $3.60 while finishing two lengths in front of Larry Johnson’s Quiet Title, who returned $3.80 to show.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program with a first race post time of 12:40 p.m.
