Millennium Farms’ Great Mills proved no disappointment as the odds-on choice in the wagering in Fair Grounds’ $49,000 optional claiming feature on Monday when he took command at the furlong grounds and then drew off for a 1 3/4-length score under Shaun Bridgmohan.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, the sophomore colt accomplished the about 5 1/2-furlong distance over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated good in 1:05.64, increased his career earnings to $51,600 with his second win in three lifetime starts and paid mutuels of $3.60, $2.40 and $2.10.

Dan Lynch, Ken Sentel and Merrill Scherer’s Goodtimehadbyall rallied in the lane to gain the place by three-quarters of a length from Clarkland Farm and Greg Foley’s Getaway Guy, who had no late rally. Goodtimehadbyall returned $7.20 and $4.60 while Getaway Guy paid $5.20.

Run for the Roses Stable’s Spit Spat Speight set the pace with splits of 21.97 and 46.31 before tiring.
