Well Monied, a grade II stakes winner who was placed in two grade I races, has been retired from racing. “She tweaked herself a couple weeks ago galloping,” said Howard L. Zucker who trained her for C. T. Grether Inc. “It was a shame. She was a really sound filly.”
A turf filly based in California, 4-year-old Well Monied was on her way to a promising year. She won an allowance race at Santa Anita and then finished fourth, beaten 1 1/2 lengths in the May 29 Gamely Stakes (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park.
