Grade 1 winner Mischevious Alex is retired, will stand in Japan
Grade 1 winner Mischevious Alex has been retired and will stand in Japan, the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association announced Friday.
Mischevious Alex finished his career with a record of 15: 7-1-2 with $734,355 earned for owners Cash Is King Racing and LC Racing. He is a 4-year-old Into Mischief colt out of the Speightstown mare White Pants Night.
John Servis trained Mischevious Alex through the colt’s 2- and 3-year-old seasons. He won three stakes races for Servis, including the 2020 Swale (G3) at Gulfstream Park and Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct.
Saffie Joseph Jr. took over training duties for Mischevious Alex’s 4-year-old season. He won his first three starts this year, including the Gulfstream Park Sprint Stakes (G3) and Aqueduct’s Carter Handicap (G1), the latter under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. by 5½ lengths over two-time Grade 1 hero Mind Control.
Mischevious Alex followed the Carter triumph by running third at Belmont Park in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1). In his final two starts, both at Saratoga, he settled for sixth in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and eighth in the Forego Stakes (G1).
