Reddam Racing’s Gomo saved all the ground to the far turn of the stretch and then swung out to power home to a 2 3/4-length victory over Dothraki Queen in the 64th running of the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) for 2-year-old fillies before a Keeneland Fall Meet opening-day crowd of 11,601 on a rainy Friday afternoon to kick off Fall Stars Weekend.

Gomo earned a spot in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on Oct. 31Trained by Doug O’Neill and ridden by Mario Gutierrez, Gomo covered the 1 1/16 miles on a sloppy track in 1:45.55. The victory was worth $240,000 and increased Gomo’s earnings to $332,320 with a record of 5-2-1-2.

The victory was the second in the race for O’Neill, who saddled 2010 winner Wickedly Perfect.

Put Da Blame On Me led the field of 10 into the backstretch with Ma Can Do It in closest pursuit with Gomo rating just behind the leaders next to the rail through fractions of :24.34 and :49.43. On the far turn, Gutierrez angled Gomo off the fence, caught the leaders at the head of the lane and quickly drew clear with more than enough left to fend off the late-running Dothraki Queen.

Gomo is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Uncle Mo out of the Elusive Quality mare Gentle Audrey.

The winner paid $12.60, $6 and $4. Dothraki Queen, ridden by Corey Lanerie, returned $4.40 and $3.40 with Ma Can Do It finishing a length back in third under Paco Lopez and paying $5.40 to show.

It was another three-quarters of a length back to Put Da Blame On Me in fourth. She was followed in order by Dream Dance, favored Just Wicked, Marquee Miss, Little Cherie, Princess Kennedy and Lookout Sister. Decked Out was scratched.
