Two of the top European contenders for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships—Goldikova and Workforce—were among a group of international horses that arrived at Churchill Downs late Oct. 30.
Trained by Freddie Head for Wertheimer & Frere’s Goldikova is seeking to become the first three-time winner of a Breeders’ Cup race when she goes in the TVG Mile (gr. IT). Prince Khalid Abdullah’s Workforce, winner of the Investec Derby (Eng-I) and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) for trainer Sir Michael Stoute, will run in the Emirates Airline Turf (gr. IT).
Another star on the international flight was Midday, also owned by Prince Khalid and trained by Stoute, who will defend her title in the Emirates Airline Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT).
