Golden Gate Fields changes its schedule for Breeders' Cup week

Golden Gate Fields will conduct live racing on a Friday-through-Sunday basis during the week of the 2023 Breeders Cup.

First post on Friday through Sunday, Nov. 3-5, will be 4:15 p.m. EDT. The Breeders Cup, hosted at Santa Anita Park this year, features five championship races on Friday and nine on Saturday.

Golden Gate, which has conducted Monday race cards since the beginning of the summer meet in August, will be dark on Monday, Nov. 6. The first Monday race card to be offered in November will be on Nov. 13.

The feature race on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Golden Gate is the $100,000 Grade 3 Golden Gate Handicap, formerly known as the Berkeley. The 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up is run on the all-weather Tapeta main track.

Along with the live race card at Golden Gate on Saturday, Golden Gate Fields will hold its annual Breeders Cup Watch Party in the turf club. Patrons must purchase tickets to attend the watch party.
