Trainer Stanley Gold notched his first victory with his first starter since his longstanding and highly successful association with Jacks or Better Farm came to an end earlier in the month.
Gold saddled Hanover Honey ($5) for a two-length triumph in Friday’s fifth race, a $30,000 claiming race for non-winners of two races.
Hanover Honey, who was ridden by Tyler Gaffalione for Buckley Racing, was included in a stable of horses formerly trained by newly retired Bill Kaplan that was recently transferred to Gold.
Rainbow 6 Carryover Rises to $71,952 for Saturday's Program
The 20-Cent Rainbow 6 will offer a $71,952.06 carryover Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the fifth consecutive program Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $2,180.52.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11 and will be kicked off by a pair of maiden special weight events. In Race 6, to be contested at 1 1/8 miles on turf, Christophe Clement-trained Silver Beach, Bill Mott-conditioned Richmond Street and Mark Casse-trained Royal Sniper will make their respective second career starts. In Race 7, Starlight Racing’s Eel, a 3-year-old son of Harlan’s Holiday, is set to career debut for trainer Todd Pletcher in the seven-furlong main-track event. The 10th race, an optional claiming allowance at 1 1/8 miles on turf, features multiple graded-stakes winner War Dancer’s 2016 debut.

First race post time for Saturday’s 11-race card is set for 12:55 p.m.
