Gio Ponti filly tops penultimate session of Keeneland’s September Sale

A filly by Gio Ponti sold for $115,000 to John Brocklebank, agent for R 3 Stable, to be the top price during Friday’s penultimate session of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale.
Brocklebank, signing on behalf of R 3 Stable, was the session’s leading buyer, purchasing two horses for $136,000.
Keeneland sold 159 yearlings Friday for a total of $2,111,900, for an average of $13,282 and a median of $7,500.
Cumulatively through the sale, which began Sept. 11, 2,420 horses have grossed $306,377,600, for an average of $126,602 and a median of $65,000.
Penn Sales consigned Friday’s high seller, a half-sister to Grade 3-placed winner The Accuser and stakes-placed winner Toulouse Lautrec and from the family of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Success Express, Canadian champion Charlie Barley and Grade 1 winner Greenwood Lake. She is out of the Meadowlake mare Lac Du Printemps.
Lane’s End, agent, was the session’s leading consignor, selling 15 horses for $276,500.
Saturday marks the final day of the September Sale, and the session begins at 10 a.m. ET. The auction is streamed live at Keeneland.com.
