Gimme Credit Wins Monmouth Feature

Dubb, Brown & Bethlehem Stable’s Gimme Credit dug in through the final yards and got up in time for a half-length victory in the $82,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.

Jockey Joe Bravo scored his third winner of the day aboard Gimme Credit, a 7-year-old son of Artax who is trained by Chad Brown. The gelding stepped the one-mile over firm turf in 1:34 4/5.

Gimme Credit, sent off the second choice in the field of seven, returned $9.40, $3.40 and $3 across the board and topped a $21.80 exacta with Ever a Friend, the 4-5 favorite who finished a neck in front of Virsito.

Ever a Friend paid $2.60 and $2.40 and Virsito, who made all the pace until giving way late, returned $5.40 to show.

This was the first win of the year in four starts for Gimme Credit, who raced for the claiming price of $62,500.

Bravo, who started the day as Monmouth’s leading rider with 20 wins, captured the sixth race aboard Tigresco, and then took the ninth on Myakka City before his victory aboard Gimme Credit.
