Gentildonna Overcomes Trouble in Sheema

GENTILDONNA overcame a troubled passage to post another impressive win for Japan at Meydan under Ryan Moore.

Trained by Sei Ishizaka, Gentildonna was trapped on the inner rail as Christophe Soumillon and Cirrus Des Aigles prevented Moore from switching out inside the final couple of furlongs.

However, Moore managed to extricate himself from his difficult position and he was able to unleash the mare's potent turn of foot that took her past Cirrus Des Aigles with ease.

Moore said: "It was very rough early on. I managed to get a nice slot and I was getting a nice enough run but I was just hemmed in a bit in the straight. But when I pulled her out she has quickened up very well. She has got an awful lot of heart.
