Keeneland: Future Is Now returns in Giant’s Causeway
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
Future Is Now is the 9-5 morning-line favorite in a field of 10 fillies and mares entered for the 28th running of the Grade 3, $350,000 Giant’s Causeway Stakes going 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass Sunday at Keeneland.
Owned by Larry Johnson’s heirs and trained by Mike
Trombetta, 5-year-old Future Is Now is a two-time Grade 2 winner with the most
recent of those victories coming in the Franklin (G2) during the Keeneland fall
meet. A victory Sunday would make her the first horse to win the Franklin and
come back the following spring to win the Giant’s Causeway.

Regular rider Paco López has the mount from post 4.
Five-year-old Danse Macabre, a multiple stakes winner for NBS
Stable and Elements Racing, and 4-year-old Toupie, owned by Wertheimer et Frère, loom
as the major threats to Future Is Now.
With Joel Rosario riding from post 6, Danse Macabre makes
her 2025 debut and her first start for trainer Christophe Clément after being
transferred last summer from Kelsey Danner.
Toupie, trained by Graham Motion, enters the Giant’s Causeway off
a victory in the Las Ciénegas (G3) at Santa Anita in January. Flavien Prat, who
was aboard for that victory, has the call Sunday from post 2.
The Giant’s Causeway will go as the eighth of
nine races Sunday with a 4:44 p.m. EDT post time. The first race starts at 1
p.m.
