There was no unique winner of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 on Thursday, leaving a jackpot carryover of $779,634.31 for Friday’s 11-race program. First race post time is 12:35 p.m.
Since last being hit for $76,799.38 by one lucky bettor on Jan. 13, the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 21 consecutive programs. The largest payout of the current Championship Meet was $262,634.84 on Jan. 7.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
There were multiple tickets sold with all six winners on Thursday, each worth $1,126.74.

Cay Dancer Goes the Distance in $65,000 Savannah Jane

Given a perfect ride by Championship Meet leader Javier Castellano, Highclere America and Robert Barnett’s led for all of 1 ½ miles to win the $65,000 Cay Dancer Thursday at Gulfstream Park.

It was the first North American stakes win for Cay Dancer ($4.60), who captured a pair of black-type events in her native England before joining trainer Chad Brown’s barn in South Florida last winter.

“The plan was to go the front if they gave it us, but try a little bit early. If somebody wanted the lead, sit off them, and if he could make the lead, go for it,” Brown said. “Javier executed it perfectly.”

Castellano hustled Cay Dancer to the front from post five, tracked by 22-1 long shot Robe to his outside and 9-5 second choice Maximova along the rail in third. Cay Dancer went the first quarter-mile in 25.48 seconds and the half in 49.78, and was still there after going six furlongs in 1:14.48 and a mile in 1:39.65.

After turning for home, Maximova split horses to launch a bid but Cay Dancer had more than enough left to hold off late-running Walk Close and Achnaha to win by a half-length in 2:26.02.

“Maybe the first half mile for a race of this distance was a little quick, but Javier slowed it down from there and made up for it the rest of the race,” Brown said. “He really just rode a masterful race and the filly responded. I’m proud of her.”
