Friday’s 5th race from Santa Anita Park (2-23-17) is an optional claiming event for 4-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the downhill turf course.
#9 B SQUARED (3-1) ran his best career race in a sharp downhill win last fall. The stalker drew well and gets out of the stakes ranks for the first time since his debut maiden win on 4-17-17.
#8 Tristan’s Trilogy (6-1) edged today’s rival #3 Incensed (6-1) by a nose in a downhill sprint Dec. 31, and the latter returned to score down the dip Jan. 26. Both are contenders again for Peter Miller.
#1 The Critical Way (5-1) is a threat if he runs back to his $50,000 downhill claiming win Jan. 13. Kent Desormeaux will try to work out a trip from the tricky inside post.
