Friday works: Sovereignty drills for 1st time since Belmont win

Sovereignty worked Friday morning for the first time since his victory June 7 in the Belmont Stakes. The dual classic winner, trained by Bill Mott, worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds over the dirt training track at Saratoga.

After Sovereignty's win in the Belmont Stakes, Mott told the NYRA press office that, assuming he came out of the Belmont well, he was considering the Grade 1 Travers on Aug. 23 at Saratoga. Mott also said that Sovereignty may prepare in the Jim Dandy (G2) there on July 26 if he is ready for a start before late August.
