Skippylongstocking drilled at Saratoga on Friday ahead of his expected start in next Friday’s Grade 2 Charles Town Classic.
The son of Exaggerator has captured the Charles Town Classic (G2) two years running and seeks his third straight victory when he returns to Charles Town next week.
The 6-year-old breezed four furlongs in 48.5 seconds, 22nd fastest of 74 at the distance. This marked his first timed work since running in the Whitney (G1) at Saratoga.
Skippylongstocking came home a disappointing seventh in the Whitney (G1) on August 2, after getting the lead at the three-eighths pole. Before that, he won the Hollywood Gold Cup (G2) at Santa Anita in May and placed third in the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) at Oaklawn on April 19.
