Friday tab: Sandman leads 24 graded-stakes winners

Sandman, who hasn't raced since Aug. 30, worked Friday at Oaklawn for trainer Mark Casse.

The 3-year-old Tapit colt breezed four furlongs in 49.0 seconds, 19th fastest of 73 at the distance.

Sandman finished ninth last out in the Grade 3 Nashville Derby Invitational after Casse moved him to turf for the first time. Sandman won the Arkansas Derby (G1) and finished in the money in other Oaklawn preps for the Kentucky Derby, and he was seventh in the run for the roses.

He then finished third in the Preakness and fifth in the Jim Dandy (G2) before being moved to grass.

He returned to the tab Nov. 26 at Casse Training Center and had two works there before moving to Oaklawn.

Sandman (Tapit), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Arkansas Derby), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Oaklawn on Friday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 73 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Casse Training Center. In his last start he placed ninth in the Nashville Derby Invitational (G3) going 1 5/16 miles on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Aug. 30 for trainer Mark Casse.

Saudi Crown (Always Dreaming), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Pennsylvania Derby), worked three furlongs in 38.0 seconds at Payson Park on Friday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 18 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed seventh in the Hanshin going one mile on the main track at Churchill Downs on June 29 for trainer Brad Cox.

Super Corredora (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies), worked three furlongs in 34.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the fastest of nine works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Oct. 31 for trainer John Sadler.

Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator), a four-time Grade 2 winner, worked four furlongs in 47.7 seconds at Palm Meadows on Friday morning. It was the second fastest of 53 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed eighth in the Charles Town Classic (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Charles Town on Aug. 22 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Imagination (Into Mischief), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2025 Santa Anita Sprint Championship, 2024 San Felipe), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the 26th fastest of 39 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita.
