Friday tab: Fierceness leads 35 graded winners on the tab

Fierceness continued to work toward his 2025 debut with a four-furlong drill Friday morning at Palm Beach Downs.

The 4-year-old City of Light colt breezed the half-mile in 49.77 seconds, eighth fastest of 16 at the distance. Trainer Todd Pletcher told Thoroughbred Daily News that his next start could come in the Grade 3 Westchester at Aqueduct on May 4.

Fierceness, the 2023 champion male juvenile, was second in the Breeders' Cup Classic in his most recent start. That effort followed wins in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy and Travers (G1).

Friday's workout was Fierceness's second since the Breeders' Cup. He breezed three furlongs in 36.23 seconds on March 13. His return to training was delayed because he had ankle surgery.
