Thursday Santa Anita Park Recap: April 7 (Winning Pick 5 Ticket)

Fast main track and firm turf course. The fourth race was originally scheduled for the downhill turf course and moved to the main track. Three wire-to-wire winners on dirt (8f, 6f, 5.5f).  The two turf races were taken by a flat mile front runner and a flat mile stalker (turf rail at 30 feet).

Riding doubles for Martin Pedroza and Flavien Prat. Leading trainer Phil D’Amato saddled two more winners.

Thursday’s suggested Pick 5 tickets produced four Primary winners (Moscato Girl, Sensitively, Clever Royal, Stir Fry) and one Secondary winner (Cimpl Man). The fourth race was taken off the turf and became an “All” in the Pick 5. Original Primary pick One Smart Cat was a late scratch in the fifth race and was replaced by post time favorite and eventual winner Stir Fry. The winning sequence (2/2/1/ALL/1,5,6) was nothing to brag about since it paid a skimpy $10.10.
