Freshman sires: Tacitus gets two wins but Yaupon still leads

Yaupon continues to dominate the 2025 freshman sire standings with 39 wins from 166 starts for an impressive 23.5% strike rate. The son of Uncle Mo has built a substantial lead over his closest competitors in what has become a tightly contested race for the runner-up positions.
While Yaupon holds a commanding lead, the battle for second and third is heating up. Knicks Go currently sits in second with 25 wins from 171 starts, just ahead of Essential Quality with 21 wins from 137 starts and Maxfield also with 21 wins from 139 starts. Independence Hall rounds out the top five with 20 wins from 150 starts.

Recent winners
Several freshman sires registered winners over the past week. Tacitus notched two victories with Agrippina winning at Oaklawn Park on Friday and Easter Promise breaking her maiden at Turfway Park the same day. Uncle Chuck added to his total when Mr Mo's Magic also captured his debut at Tampa Bay Downs on Friday.
Listing scored with Emma G at Los Alamitos, while Charlatan continued his strong showing with Little Miss Curlin winning at Fair Grounds on Saturday. Lexitonian also added a winner as Dickie T broke through at Fair Grounds on Sunday.
