With a field of 12 signed on for Saturday's Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers Stakes, allow the past performances to help you separate contenders from pretenders.

Our friends at Brisnet have provided free PPs for the Mid-Summer Derby headlined by 5-2 morning line favorite Tacitus, who will rematch with Jim Dandy (G2) winner Tax and sees Code of Honor for the first time since the Kentucky Derby.

Post time for Race 11 at Saratoga is 5:44 p.m. ET, with plenty of time between now and then to sort through Brisnet's assorted handicapping tools. Among them is Prime Power, which combines factors such as speed, class and pace to rank the field.

If you believe in Prime Power, you'll take a pause on Tacitus. While he does sport the highest figure in the field, that's shared with Mucho Gusto, who was second last time to Maximum Security in the Haskell invitational (G1) and sits at a much more friendly 6-1 on the Travers' morning line.

Plus, there's a relatively small gap to horses such as Tax, Owendale and Code of Honor on the Prime Power scale. In other words, if you can form a solid opinion around a horse that isn't the favorite, this Travers figures to offer some value.

In addition to traditional running lines, Brisnet's Ultimate PPs offer quick handicapping insights for each entrant -- essentially a measure of who's hot, placed well and sizes up based on percentages -- and ranks runners accordingly using Brisnet Speed Ratings.
