Canada's premiere race, the $1 million Queen's Plate for Canadian-breds, takes center stage at Woodbine on Saturday. Fourteen of Canada's best 3-year-olds will travel 1 1/4 miles over the Synthetic in the first leg of the country's Triple Crown.

To help better clear up this seemingly wide-open affair, we turn to our friends at Brisnet for free past performances.

Kevin Attard's Clayton is listed as the 2-1 morning line favorite following his win in the key prep for this race, the Queen's Plate Trial.

Brisnet's Prime Power Rankings fancies Josie Carroll's 5-2 second choice Curlin's Voyage as the horse to beat and lists three clear standouts. The Power Rankings place Clayton second, but value players will note that there is very little separating the Queen's Plate Trial winner from Kevin Attard's 10-1 shot Merveilleux.

Merveilleux, the 'other filly' in the race, was a troubled third behind Curlin's Voyage in the Woodbine Oaks. It is no surprise that Brisnet values the Woodbine Oaks runners as that race was run in a faster time than the Queen's Plate Trial on the same card.

Class is vital in a race of this quality and the same three runners claim the top spots in Brisnet's Average Class category. Curlin's Voyage leads the way once more, but Clayton and Merveilleux are right on her heels in this category. It is worth noting that Merveilleux's highest Class Rating and Brisnet Speed Figure came last time out in her first start wearing blinkers.

Clayton is a respectable favorite who should be included in all exotic wagering, but it appears that the fillies will rule the day on the front end in the Queen's Plate. Curlin's Voyage will be tough to defeat, but Merveilleux offers tremendous value as an alternative to turn the tables.
