Gulfstream Park’s Holy Bull Stakes (G3) and Santa Anita’s Robert B. Lewis (G3) on Saturday each offers qualifying points towards the 2021 Kentucky Derby on a 10-4-2-1 scale. Both races feature top talent from top trainers looking to advance on the Derby road.
The Holy Bull features Prime Factor, trained by Todd Pletcher, who will make his stakes debut after a blowout win going six-furlongs against maiden at Gulfstream in his first time out.
The Quality Road colt will face some stiff competition in the race, including the Shug McGaughey-trained Greatest Honour, also making his stakes debut. The son of Tapit took four tries to break his maiden, but looked good winning at Gulfstream on Dec. 26 going 1 1/16-miles. The 97 Brisnet Speed Rating earned ties for tops in the field.
The Holy Bull field also includes Awesome Gerry, who leads the way in Prime Power rankings. The Liam’s Map colt, trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., finished third in the Mucho Macho Man in his last race.

On the West Coast, the Robert B. Lewis (G3) features star power throughout the field, led by Spielberg, trained by Bob Baffert, winner of the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) on Dec. 19.
The son of Union Rags is joined by Hot Rod Charlie, making the first start of his 3-year-old year. Trained by Doug O’Neill, the son of Oxbow finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Nov. 6 to cap off his juvenile campaign.
Baffert’s other entry in the race, Medina Spirit, will be hunting for his first stakes win. The Protonico colt has raced twice, breaking his maiden on first attempt at Los Alamitos and finishing second in the Sham Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita on Jan. 2.
