This weekend features three 100-40-20-10 points races for the May 1 Kentucky Derby.

The highlight of Keeneland’s opening weekend, the Blue Grass Stakes (G2) field will include last year’s 2-year-old champion, Essential Quality for trainer Brad Cox. The Tapit colt won the Southwest (G3) at Oaklawn in his most recent start.

Essential Quality will go up against a field that includes Highly Motivated, a son of Into Mischief who finished third in the Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct on March 6.

Trained by Chad Brown, Highly Motivated won the Nyquist Stakes as a 2-year-old at Keeneland in November.

Those two will also face off with Rombauer, winner of the El Camino Real Derby on the synthetic track at Golden Gate on Feb. 13. The colt has never won on dirt, finishing fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, a race won by Essential Quality, and second in the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita.

Free past performances for the entire Blue Grass Stakes field are now available, courtesy of our friends at Brisnet.

Over on the east coast, Aqueduct will see its final Derby points race of the year with the Wood Memorial (G2). That race has Risk Taking, also trained by Brown, as the 5-2 morning line favorite.

The Medaglia d’Oro colt found his way to the winner’s circle in his most recent start, the Withers (G3) on Feb. 6 at Aqueduct.

The race will also feature the top two from the Gotham (G3) on March 6 at the Big A, in Weyburn and Crowded Trade, who both knocked off Highly Motivated in the race.

Brooklyn Strong, winner of the Remsen (G2), will also look for a strong finish to become trainer Daniel Velazquez’s first Derby horse.

Free Brisnet PPs for the Wood Memorial are now available.

Finally, across the country at Santa Anita comes the Santa Anita Derby (G1).

The race is headlined by two entries from trainer Bob Baffert, with Defunded making his first trip in stakes company, and Medina Spirit looking to better his second-place finish in the San Felipe (G2) on March 6.

The Protonico colt won the Robert B. Lewis (G3) at the Great Race Place on Jan. 30.

The Baffert-trained duo will be joined in the race by Pasadena Stakes winner Rock Your World for trainer John Sadler. The Candy Ride Colt will try dirt for the first time in the Santa Anita Derby,

Other contenders include Dream Shake, trained by Peter Eurton, and Roman Centurion, trained by Simon Callaghan.

Free Brisnet PPs for the entire Santa Anita Derby field are now available. Check out our past performances page for even more free data.
