Free Flying Soul Heads Desert Stormer

Free Flying Soul is the 122 pound highweight against six rivals in the Desert Stormer.

Trained by Bruce Headley for Marsha Naify, the 5-year-old daughter of Quiet American and the Farma Way mare Ruby Surprise has won five of 14 and earned $356,157.

Fourth in the Humana Distaff, a Grade 1, on the Kentucky Derby undercard on May 1 at Churchill Downs, Free Flying Soul won the last time she visited Hollywood Park. She captured the restricted Winter as the 11-10 favorite last Dec. 4. Mike Smith, who has won the Desert Stormer twice since 2005, has the mount.

Trainer John Sadler, who won the race a year ago with Coco Belle, will try for a repeat with Alpha Kitten. The 4-year-old Tale Of The Cat filly and Unbridled’s Song mare Alpha Mama is owned by the Mosses, who also bred her in Kentucky. She has two wins in six attempts and has earned $184,670.
