Freak accident nearly ends jockey's career

...in the case of Jeffery Burningham, the injury that nearly ended his career didn't happen at the race track.

Burningham very nearly lost his career (and perhaps his life) while doing a fairly common household chore — namely, trimming a tree.

His injuries were extensive and profound. He had broken ribs and a hip that was busted in two places. Worse yet, he had broken his back.
