Fourteen Entered in Real Good Deal

Fourteen California-bred three-year-olds, including unbeaten Red Outlaw, are entered in Friday’s 27th running of the $200,000 Real Good Deal Stakes at seven furlongs over Del Mar’s main track.

Post time for the first race Friday will be 4 p.m.

Given the size of the field, the Real Good Deal figures to be a wide-open affair. However, Red Outlaw, a son of Tribal Rule trained by Peter Miller, should be solidly backed, although he is unraced since winning the Baffle Stakes on turf at Santa Anita in mid-February. His two previous victories were accomplished on synthetic surfaces at Hollywood Park and Golden Gate Fields. Edwin Maldonado has the call.

Strong foes include Alert Bay, never worse than third in eight starts, including a second in the Silky Sullivan Stakes and two other stakes-placed efforts, and last-out winners Solid Wager, Chattering Gambler and Hypnatique.

Other entrants are Eddie’s First, Convoy, Whine for Wine, Gangnam Guy, Grazen’s Hope, Patriots Rule, The Mad Hungarian, G.G. Ryder and True Ten.
