Thick fog forces cancellation of last 4 races on Aqueduct card

The New York Racing Association canceled the last four races on Saturday’s nine-race Aqueduct card due to heavy fog that settled into the New York City area and led to visibility concerns.

Per New York State Gaming Commission rules, Saturday’s Pick 6 wagering pool, which featured a carryover of $22,611, will be refunded. The wager and carryover will return on Sunday,with a mandatory payout. Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 with a post time of 1:47 p.m.

Saturday’s featured event, the $150,000 Queens County, will be rescheduled on Jan. 7.

Sunday's nine-race card features the $150,000 Ladies in race 3. First post is 12:20 p.m. EST.

Aqueduct was not the only U.S. track bedeviled by the weather on Saturday. Racing at both Golden Gate Fields and Turf Paradise also was canceled due to rainfall in the San Francisco Bay Area and Phoenix.
