Laurie Plesa’s Flay Mignon took the lead right from the start and was pressed early by M S C Jet before putting away that foe and all the rest to take the $60,000 Jersey Juvenile Stakes by 5 ¾ lengths at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Ridden by Paco Lopez, Flay Mignon stepped the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 flat and paid $3.40, $2.10 and $2.10 as the odds-on choice in the field of five New Jersey-breds.  Charleymillionaire rallied to complete the $8.60 exacta and paid $3.20 and $2.20.  It was another 8 ¾ lengths back to She’s Hot Wired, who paid $2.20 to show.

“I’m just glad to be here in New Jersey and to have a nice horse like this,” said winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr.  “She’s one of the nicest 2-year-olds in the barn.  She’s shown how good she is and that she can run on anything.”

A 2-year-old filly by Yesbyjimminy from the Forest Camp mare Forest Retreat, Flay Mignon has won three of her four starts, earning $112,400 for her connections.
