Preston Stables’ Flat Out, allowed to settle early, angled sharply outside the leaders in upper stretch under left-handed whipping and drew off for a two-length tally in Sunday’s featured $49,000 allowance optional claiming race at Fair Grounds.

The winner, trained by Charles Dickey and ridden by Corey Lanerie, toured the mile and 70-yard distance in 1:42.76, increased his career earnings to $116,200 with his third victory in six lifetime starts and returned mutuels of $11.20 $6.20 and $4.60.

D&G Racing, Diamond Racing and 4-Star Thunder’s Max Me Out, who pressed the pace, continued willingly late to best Millennium Farms and James Covello’s Tone It Down by a head for the runner-up position. Max Me Out paid $4.40 and $3.20 in the second spot, and Tone It Down paid $4.40 for finishing third.

Racing resumes for the first Monday of the Fair Grounds 2010-2011 meeting with a 10-race program with post time for the first race set for 12:40 p.m.
