First foal by 2-time champion sprinter Elite Power is born

Elite Power's first foal was born Thursday at Norevale Farm.

With nearly identical marking as his sire, the chestnut colt is out of Havin' a Party, an Emcee mare out of Grade 3 winner Chimichurri who sold for $2.1 million dollars as a broodmare. The Constitution filly Woodhull, the dam's first foal to race, is a winner.

Havin' a Party is a half-sister to Loving Vindication, the dam of Canadian champion and Kentucky Oaks runner-up Wonder Gadot as well as Grade 1 winner Hard Not to Like. She is also a half-sister to Chimayo, the dam of Grade 1 winner Secret Spice, as well as multiple stakes producer Claire's Song.

"The farm reported to be extremely pleased with the foal. The foal's dam is indicative of the exceptional caliber of mare we have been able to attract to Elite Power's book," Garrett O'Rourke, general manager of Juddmonte U.S., said.

Elite Power was a $900,000 yearling purchase who would go on to win the Breeders' Cup Sprint twice as well as being named Eclipse champion sprinter twice. By Curlin, the 3-time Grade 1 winner retired after the 2023 Breeders' Cup with a 13: 9-1-1 record and earned $3,775,711 during his racing career. He stands at Juddmonte Farm for a fee of $50,000 live foal.
